Katherine Heigl has given birth to a baby boy!
The “Grey’s Anatomy” alum welcomed her son last month with her musician husband, Joshua Kelley, a rep for the star has confirmed.
They have chosen to name their son Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr, after his father.
Katherine announced her pregnancy in June last year, and this is the couple’s first biological child together. They are already parents to Naleigh, 8, and Adalaide, 4, who they adopted in 2009 and 2012 from South Korea.
Her adoption plans were motivated by the fact that she herself has an adopted sister, Meg , also from South Korea.
“My sister Meg is Korean, and my parents adopted her three years before I was born. I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea,” Katherine said in an interview with “Scholastic.”
“We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first. I just wanted to be a mom. So however we do that, it’s fine with me.
She also kept fans updated throughout her pregnancy through her blog, Those Heavenly Days. Soon after she announced her pregnancy, Katherine wrote about how it felt to be pregnant for the first time: “We were considering adoption again, fostering, or pregnancy if possible,” she wrote.
“Seeing as I have never been pregnant and as my OB/GYN reminded me last year, I’m of advanced maternal age, I wasn’t sure pregnancy was even in the cards for us. Turns out it was very much in the cards!”
Many congrats to the happy couple!
