As with most things, baby names also follow trends. Some names become very popular for a few years due to celebrity or popular culture influence, then fall out favour over time as they are replaced by other names. Some names, however, do resist the test of time but the majority of names rise and fall in popularity over the years.
According to this list recently released by BabyCentre, these names are at risk of extinction as they have not been registered at all in 2017. And you can probably see why – they are all traditional (and some would say, old-fashioned) names from the 1950s and 60s.
We recently released a list of unpopular names according to our website data, and a lot of the entries on our list are old-fashioned names as well – it really does make sense!
Check out the list below and on the flip side, these would make a great baby name choice if you are looking for something no one else is likely to choose!
