Whilst summer seems to be drifting away quite dramatically, and we took a little break, you have still been helping us find out what baby names you consider as the best choices around. So we’re back with the top names from the past two months and as always there are some surprises. We’ll bring you the top rated baby names on the site, and also your top ten favourites.
To being with we’ll look at the top 10 highest rated names on BabyNames.co.uk from July and then from August. No names remained in the top ten between June and July and there were some interesting new entries! Here is the first chart, with the top 10 from July, remember our ratings are out of five:
Amelia topped our chart again for the first time since November, but the interesting point in July was our six new entries. It was exciting to see names such as Keiko and Orson hit our charts for the first time, and surprising that George didn’t make an appearance after the birth of our new Prince. There were many unique names hitting the top ten for the first time, and this continues a trend we’ve seen throughout the year.
Without further ado, here is our top ten from August, with some more surprises but definitely a return to the classics.
Chloe entered our top ten for the first time, and managed to hit top spot. In August the only name that remained in the top ten from the previous month was Amelia, but even then it fell 8 places from top to ninth. August saw a surprising number of “classic” names enter our top ten, with James, Archie and Joanna making their first appearance in our top ten. It’ll be interesting to see if this classic trend continues, we’ve seen these names becoming popular throughout the year and it may continue since the birth of Prince George.
As always we keep track of your favourite names too, the ones you’ve added to your name lists. The likelihood is these names have been chosen to name babies across the country!
July revealed some interesting changes in our top chart, with Henry and Erin making their first appearances in the chart coming in at seventh and eighth respectively. Noah returned to the top of our chart for the first time since May, with Freya again bouncing back into your thoughts and Imogen making an appearance for the first time since March. So what about August?
August brought about big changes in your favourites. Grace appeared for the first time since May and took top spot in the chart, with Isla moving up two places to second. Surprisingly Poppy made it’s first ever appearance breaking into the top three. There were also first appearances for Charlotte, William and Isabella. The continued dominance of the classics remains though, and it looks like this trend is set fair.
George still hasn’t made an appearance in the top ten, although it wont be long surely! We’ll be back next month with another look at your top ten names.
