Benedict Cumberbatch has welcomed baby number two with his wife, Sophie Hunter!
While the couple have yet to officially announce the news, it has been reported that Sophie had actually given birth to a baby boy on March 3 and they have decided to keep things a secret.
They announced that they were expecting back in October and they are already parents to Christopher , born in 2015.
It also appears that Benedict has chosen a rather unusual name for his new bundle of joy – he is certainly no stranger to unusual names! He has chosen Hal, which has Shakespearean roots. It was the nickname the great writer created for young Henry V. His full name is Hal Auden Cumberbatch.
The “Sherlock” star has spoken about how being a father has affected his career – for the better.
“Lots of people, especially women, get told, ‘Oh parenthood is really going to affect your career – and it does, but for the better I think,” he said in an interview with “Hello!” magazine.
“I know I’m in a very privileged position in my career but I think everyone, even if they’re in a challenging time in their life, draws strength from their children. They are your inspiration. It adds to your work, it never takes away,” he continued.
Congratulations to the happy couple and we love the name inspiration! It is very fitting for the son of such a great actor.
