The Best Easter Egg Hunts Around the UK 2017

Easter egg hunting season is upon us! If the thought of putting on your own hunt is too much to bear, then why not take your children to one of the 300 egg hunts the National Trust is putting on around the UK this Easter holiday? They don’t cost very much and you are guaranteed a fun day out with the family complete with a gorgeous setting. All who participate in the hunts will go home with a Cadbury treat, to boot! Check out the ones we think are the best below.

London: Fenton House and Garden

How much? £3 to join the hunt and £4 (adults) and £2 (children over 5 years) to enter the property

Where? Windmill Hill, Hampstead, London NW3 6RT

When? Good Friday to Easter Monday, 11am – 4pm.

What? Fenton House and Garden is a beautiful gem in North London. The hunt will take you and your children through a sunken garden, ancient orchard, kitchen gardens and emerald lawns. After you are done looking for eggs, have yourself a picnic or explore Fenton House itself.

Brighton: Devil’s Dyke

How much? £3 to participate in the hunt.

Where? South Down’s Way, Brighton, West Sussex BN45 7FH

When? Easter Saturday to Easter Monday, 11am – 3pm.

What? With its beautiful view, Devil’s Dyke is an ideal place to spend a family day out. After you are done with the egg hunt, you can hike, cycle or even fly a kite – there’s lots to do in the mile long valley.

 

Derbyshire: Eyam Hall

How much? £3 to join the hunt and £8.90 (adults)/£4.46 (children over 5 years) to enter the property

What? Found in the rolling hills of the Peak District, Eyam Hall is a beautiful property with lots to keep you occupied, including: themed walks, arts and crafts, delicious meals at the cafe and bug hunting, to name a few.


Cumbria: Wray Castle

How much? £2 to join the hunt and £10 (adults)/£5(children over 5 years) to enter the property

When? Good Friday to Easter Monday, 10am – 3:30pm.

What? Wray Castle might not be full of grand possessions any more but there is still plenty to see and explore both inside and outside. Make the most of its family-friendly grounds and gardens after you have finished your egg hunt.

Newport: Tredegar House

How much? £2 to join the hunt and £9.20 (adults)/£4.60 (children over 5 years) to enter the property

Where? Newport, Wales NP10 8YW

When? Good Friday to Easter Monday, 11am – 4pm.

What? Tredegar House boasts many secrets inside its red bricked interior, to the gilt room with hidden faces to the King’s Room, used to practice dark magic in the 1930s. Explore the house for hidden treasure and have lunch in the beautiful formal gardens.

Edinburgh: The Georgian House

How much? £1 to join the hunt and £7 (adults)/£5.50 (children over 5 years)/£16.50 (family) to enter the property

Where? The Georgian House, 7 Charlotte Square, Edinburgh, EH2 4DR

When? Good Friday to Easter Monday, 10am – 4:15pm.

What? The Georgian House promises a different hunt each time, so it is worth trying more than one. The house itself is a preserved piece of 19th-century history, so be sure to have a good look around to soak it all in.

County Down: Mount Stewart House and Gardens

How much? £1 to join the hunt and £9.50 (adults)/£4.75 (children over 5 years)/£23.75 (family) to enter the property

When? Good Friday to Easter Monday, 11am – 4pm.
