The celebrity world has been rocked by the news that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie – or more famously known as Brangelina – are over!
Angelina, 41, was the one to file for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for physical custody of the couple’s six children. Brad, 52, will get visitation rights. The couple was famous for meeting on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” back in 2005 (and splitting the world into Jennifer supporters and Angelina supporters), but the couple only officially got married two years ago in August 2014, in Chateau Miraval in France.
Laura Wasser will be representing Angelina, and the lawyer has most recently represented Amber Heard against her divorce from Johnny Depp.
Rumour has it that Angelina is filing for divorce because of conflicts over how Brad raises their children. Brangelina have six children together: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox.
This is Angelina’s third divorce, having been previously married to Johnny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thorton, while this is Brad’s second divorce, after being married to Jennifer Aniston for five years.
What a shocking turn of events!
To remember the happier times, lets explore the names of Brangelina’s children:
Maddox, 15: A Welsh name meaning “generous”, the name perhaps came from the surname Maddocks, which refers to a descendant of Maddock, or Madoc.
Pax, 12: Pax is a Latin name meaning “peace”. In Greek mythology, Pax was the Goddess of Peace.
Zahara, 11: Zahara is a variant of Zahrah which is a feminine name of Arabic origin and is said to mean “she will flourish”.
Shiloh, 10: Shiloh is a Hebrew name meaning “sanctuary”. It comes from a place name in the bible, which was a sanctuary near Jericho.
Vivienne, 8: Vivienne is the French form of the name Vivian, a Latin name meaning “full of life”.
Knox, 8: Knox was borne by the founder of the Scottish Presbyterian church, John Knox, from 1560 AD. It means “hill with rounded peak”.
