EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy – who played Sonia Jackson in EastEnders from 1993 to 2000 and who recently returned to the role in 2014 – has given birth to her second daughter over the Bank Holiday weekend!
She announced the arrival on her Twitter page on Monday morning with an adorable tweet : “@camermarc and I introduce Joanie Elizabeth Cassidy-Humphreys…We are all so in love!” and also shared a family portrait.
“Family and friends are thrilled for Natalie and have been buying gifts for them to celebrate,” said by a source close to the soap star.
Having announced the pregnancy back in February, this is Natalie’s first baby with her fiancé, Marc Humphreys. They couple met on the set of EastEnders and were soon engaged in October last year.
Natalie, 33, already has a daughter Eliza, 5, with her ex-partner Adam Cottrell. He was charged with assaulting her in June 2011 where he received a sentence of 120 hours of unpaid community service.
The couple have chosen to name their daughter Joanie, which is the medieval form of the name Joanne, meaning ‘God is gracious’.
Best wishes to their beautiful family!
