Halle Berry has recently given birth to a baby boy with her husband Oliver Martinez. The pregnancy, as with all celeb pregnancies, has been extensively covered in the press. There were many debates over the name that the couple might choose, and of course celeb trends demand something unique and odd – just look at Kimye’s baby North West. And whilst Halle Berry may have chosen a unique name, it’s certainly not too odd, in fact it has its roots in medieval history!
So Maceo Robert Martinez was born in Los Angeles. Whilst Maceo may seem like your typical unique celebrity name, it in fact was extremely popular in Spain in the middle ages. This name hints at the Spanish roots of his father whilst embracing the uniqueness of itself, how many Maceo’s do you know?
This year has seen a definite move amongst visitors to our site to choose what we’d call ‘traditional’ names. If you had to choose a baby name, would you go down the traditional or unique road?
