When Kim Kardashian gave birth to her daughter there was a fervour over what Kim and Kanye would call their baby. Would they stick with the Kardashian K, would they follow suit with celebs and choose something “out-there”, or would they simply choose an old fashioned, common name? Well our questions were answered today when various news outlets revealed that Kimye’s baby was in fact called, wait for it, North West.
Nothing shocks us here at babynames.co.uk anymore, we’ve seen some rather “unique” baby names hit the news over the years. That being said I think this is the first compass point that we’ve come across. Clearly Kim and Kanye’s baby is going to live a life of privilege and bullying is probably something she wont have to worry about, but North West seems a rather strange decision. They claim they’re going to call her Nori – but this wont stop the press from throwing out puns aplenty.
North West isn’t the first, and certainly wont be the last strange celebrity baby name, but it’s definitely the first one that has pointed us in a certain direction – but is it the right direction for Kimye’s child? That remains to be seen.
