Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last two days, you’ll know that Brangelina have split. But how did Marion Cotillard get embroiled in all of this?
The French actress, 40, could not have chosen a more appropriate time to announce her pregnancy news. There were rumours abound that Brad Pitt was having an affair with her, which supposedly blossomed on the set of the upcoming spy thriller, “Allied”.
Marion laid those rumours to rest when she shared the news of baby number 2 on Instagram, saying that the father is most definitely not Brad, but her partner of eight years, Guillaume Canet.
In a lengthy post accompanying the abstract picture she uploaded, Marion cleared the air by writing (in both English and her native French): “This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into. I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up.” She then goes on to address the rumours about her and Brad.
“Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need. Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn’t distressing.” She confirms that her relationship with her partner is on track and that he is the father of both their children. The couple already have a son together, Marcel, 5.
“And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgement, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery. Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both [of] whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this tumultuous moment.” What a very classy and to the point message!
Congratulations to Marion and her partner – despite all the ugliness, this must be very happy news for her family!
