Amy-Leigh

Double barrelled first names are a more modern creation. They are probably inspired by the double barrelled surnames frequently found in English speaking countries. The meaning of the name can be taken to be a mixture of its two parts theoretically. Amy is ultimately French in origin and it is said to mean ‘Loved One’. Leigh is of English origin and is said to mean ‘Meadow’. We can therefore take the meaning of Amy-Leigh to be along the lines of ‘Favourite Meadow’. It would be a lovely name if a certain meadow held significance to the parents.
