Chartlotte Brontë was an English novelist and poet, the eldest of the three Brontë and is best known for her book, “Jane Eyre.” Along with her sisters, their novels have become classics in English literature. Charlotte is the French feminine diminutive of Charles, used in England since the 17th century. Particularly popular in the 18th and 19th centuries due to Queen Charlotte’s influence, it has risen in popularity since 1980s, particularly in the UK and Australia.
