About Maryam

Go back to names list

Maryam is an Arabic variant of the Hebrew Miriam. Miriam is a feminine name found in the Old Testament as the original form of Mary. Its first appearance is as the name of the sister of Moses. It is taken to mean ‘Sea Dew’, however some argue that its origins lie further back in ancient Egypt and its meaning is debated.
