Nancy Birtwhistle

Nancy was the winner of the fifth series of the TV show, with her apple and lemon kites, raspberry and almond croissants, high tea staples, and pièce montée (the Red Windmill). This series was also notable for “Bingate”, where Iain Watters binned his baked Alaska because the ice cream had not set. Many think that Diana Beard had removed his ice cream from the freezer to make room for her own ice cream and it constituted as “sabotage”. Nancy is a pet form of the Latin name Ann, meaning “God has favoured me”.
