Steve Rogers/Captain America

Steve Rogers, or Captain America, is the world’s first superhero. He was part of a secret Super-Soldier program during World War II, turning him from a frail, lanky boy into the powerful Captain America. He fought HYDRA during the war, and was subsequently preserved for 67 years after crashing into the Arctic on his final mission. He eventually reawakens in the modern day, and joins S.H.I.E.L.D and the Avengers. Steve is the short form of Steven, meaning “garland” or “crown” in Greek.
