Zara Phillips, 35, and her husband Mike Tindall, 38, are expecting their second baby, a spokeswoman for the couple has confirmed.
The Queen and royal family are delighted with the news, and this will be her majesty’s sixth great-grandchild. The new royal baby will be another second cousin to Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Olympic silver medallist Zara – who is also the Queen’s granddaughter – and her husband Mike, who is an ex-England rugby player, started dating in 2003 and married in July 2011 at Canongate Kirk, Edinburgh. They are parents to their daughter Mia, 2, born in January 2014. Their new addition will be joining their family in Spring 2017.
Zara was an Olympic equestrian star who helped the Great Britain team win a silver medal at the 2012 games but she missed out on the team this year for Rio 2016, where she was hoping to bring back gold from Brazil.
Mike took to Twitter to express his excitement, tweeting: “Just a quick one to say thank you for the messages. We are very very happy about the little one on its way. 2017 is already starting well!!”
What happy news to end their year with! We can’t wait to find out if we will be getting a little prince or princess!
