This week, we’ll be reviewing the 4-Way Maternity Cardigan.

DESIGN
What we found so great about this 4-in-1 maternity cardigan is that at first glance, it doesn’t scream maternity clothing – it looks like a stylish jacket that can be bought on the high street! You can easily wear it out just as a regular article of clothing, even when you don’t have the baby with you. The simple and stylish design means that it goes well with many staples, such as jeans and trousers or throwing it over a dress if you need a bit of extra warmth.
The length of the cardigan (it is 28 inches/71cm) is perfect. Not only is it flattering but it also helps hides and bumps that you haven’t quite gotten rid of post-birth. However, because you can tie it, it means that you still get a flattering silhouette that defines your waist and you’re not merely wearing a sack-like cardigan that has no shape at all.
The clever designers at Jojo have obviously made this cardigan with style in mind because it can be worn in so many different ways, depending on your needs and mood. The collar itself is very versatile and it can be buttoned at the shoulder with a discreet upper buttonhole for a sleek look, buttoned with a lower buttonhole for a partial draped collar or worn open for a casual waterfall style.
We do recommend sizing down, however, as this cardigan runs a little bit big. Also take into account that you will definitely want to keep wearing it after you’ve lost your baby weight!
MATERIAL
The cardigan is made from a knitted cotton blend that is warm yet durable. Because it can be washed at 30 degrees, you can easily just chuck it into the wash with everything else – no special cycle needed and no fuss! We have also washed it after it has been soiled with baby vomit and it came out of the washing machine clean and soft as the day it arrived to us.
One of the great things about this cardigan is the sheer amount of material it has. Not only will it keep you just warm enough on those slightly chilly days, but it will also help keep your breastfeeding discreet if you have to do it in public, as there is enough fabric to cover yourself and your baby with it. However, the material won’t overheat you or your baby, as it is lightweight and breathable. It also retains its stretch very well, and you won’t see your cardigan go baggy in the arms.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Of course, the best feature of this cardigan is the fact that you can wear it while you’re pregnant, and after you’ve given birth as well. It is very well designed for breastfeeding, with buttons on either side of the cardigan so you can easily switch from one side to the other without any trouble.
The buttons are easily hidden but strong. Once fastened, the cardigan allows for a big enough gap at the neck of the cardigan so you can see your baby whilst feeding. This is so important, especially in the early days when you want to check the baby is latching on correctly. This cardigan will really help any new mothers who are a little bit apprehensive about having to breastfeed in public.
