Shayne Ward and his girlfriend, Sophie Austin, welcomed their first daughter together this weekend!
They have chosen to name her Willow May Ward, which we think is beautiful. They certainly have not followed in the footsteps of other celebrities and have stuck with a traditional name. We particularly like the way the three names flow into each other.
The soap stars shared the news on social media. Corrie actor and X-Factor winner Shayne tweeted: “Proud to share our incredible news. Me and Sophie had a beautiful baby girl. We are completely besotted and in love with the deepest of hearts. Our world. Willow May Ward.” Sophie, who was a long time regular on Hollyoaks, also gushed about her daughter on her Instagram and said she is “complete” now that she’s has given birth.
Many fans were quick to congratulate them, including Corrie co-star Richard Hawley, who wrote: “Amazing!! Congratulations! So happy for you all! Welcome Willow! Lots and lots of love! X.”
Shayne added: “Thank you all so much for the beautiful messages. Mummy & baby are doing great. Right. Time to do my Fatherly duties #DiaperchangeKing.”
Back in October, Shayne spoke to OK! magazine about how excited he is to be having his first child: “It’s nice because I’m joining this family club and it’s amazing. I’m an uncle 13 times over, that’s Irish families for ya,” he joked.
The couple meet through mutual friends and kept their relationship low key. Shayne and Sophie only went public with their relationship back in March this year. They were quick to follow this with their pregnancy announcement in August.
Fans of Shayne who are waiting to see him back on television screens will have to be patient – he is taking a break from work after the birth.
